Conclusion
As you can see throughout the contents of this website, rap music has had and still has a massive effect on our culture. The literature review and my content analysis had some similarities and some differences.
Some of the similarities seemed to be within the sexual, violence with a weapon and punishment content of the songs. My research and my analysis showed that rap music is drenched with sexual violence and violence with the use of a weapon. You can also see that the presentation of punishment throughout the songs was minimal, if existent. Overall I think my content analysis clearly reflected my research.
No matter what you think in regards to rap music, there is one thing you cannot deny. Rap music is shocking. Over the past weeks I have immersed myself in these songs, studied these rap artists and learned about hip-hop culture. I was shocked at the language and content I experienced. The question is raised, is our culture creating this music or is the music creating a culture. Whatever the answer is I think it is safe to say, rap music has a big impact on our society and we need to be extremely aware of the lyrics and the content of the music we listen to.
